Charles Plummer

Charles Plummer - One of our earliest members, Charles has over 35 years’ experience of social work practice with Children & Families in a variety of settings in both the UK and USA, encompassing statutory children & families social work within local authorities, residential work, family counselling/guidance, education social work, and fostering & adoption. He has held the positions of Senior Practitioner, Practice Supervisor, and Team Manager. Latterly, Charles has practised extensively in the family courts as a Children’s Guardian and Family Court Adviser covering a wide variety of case issues including parental alcohol/drug misuse; parental mental health and learning disability; domestic violence; physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect; contact and residence issues; removal from the jurisdiction; surrogacy; and complex and high-conflict cases involving non-accidental injury and fabricated illness.

Charles is a strong advocate for evidence-based practice in child safeguarding and family court social work, and is concerned about the harm caused to children and young people by the encroachment of gender ideology within social work practice, academia, and social work regulators.
