Emma D
Emma has worked with children in the care system since 2001 although only qualified as a Social Worker in 2021 after completing a Masters in Social Work. Emma now works with adolescents including children in need, children in care and children in need of protection. Emma did not come across any child questioning their 'gender identity' until 2020, this first teenager had spent a lot of time on the internet in lockdown. Since then Emma has worked with several teenagers who identify as transgender.
Emma became aware that something was awry through the Newsnight documentary on the Tavistock GIDS service and of concerns raised by whistle blowers there. Further reading has alerted Emma to other concerns such as safety and dignity of women in prison and refuges due to policies allowing men to self identify as women.
